Welcome to EYC 2006 hosted by The
Bay of Quinte Yacht Club in Belleville, Ontario.
EYC will be one of many events to celebrate our 130th
anniversary! The club was founded in 1876 and is the
second oldest club in Ontario and the fourth oldest
in Canada.
"Steel Time"
owned by Rose and Bill Lawson our Commodore and Consort
was on station at the Olympics in Kingston in 1976 and
we are honoured for them to be our Race Committee Boat
for EYC 2006, thirty years later!
Quinte Sailability,
Martin 16's & EYC!
The EYC is adding a
Martin 16 class race
to this year’s event. This Canadian designed and
built boat for people with a disability is raced across
Canada including an annual North
American championship, the Mobility Cup.
The M16 can be sailed simply by a
joystick and sheets or can include all the sail trim
functions, including a modified spinnaker that serious
racers use. Electronic controls or a sip-and-puff system
can also be employed making it adaptable to most disabilities.

Vikings may
invade EYC!
Unconfirmed speculation has it that Vikings may invade
EYC this summer. An interception of an electronic communication
indicates that the Viking Kraken could be behind this
tactical invasion. The communication indicates that
the Viking Kraken has also combined forces with the
Viking Murlyn and enlisted the help of Viking Regardless
to bring more boats from the south as well as Viking
Berserk to bring boats from the west.
A confidential source says, “The speculation
is wrong…We, Vikings will not be invading EYC
with the goal of plundering and pillaging! EYC will
be our battleground to compete for the Scott Cowan Memorial
Trophy… It is a Viking honour and tradition!”
The EYC Committee has stated that they we will be watching
the development of the possible Viking invasion very
closely.
